World’s largest vaccine companies work together on Covid-19

EARA members Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) have announced a vaccine collaboration to fight Covid-19.

The vaccine is based on the existing knowledge of vaccine creation and production developed by Sanofi to make its flu vaccine. GSK is contributing with technology to help trigger a stronger immune reaction, which could lower the dose required by a person and increase the speed at which dose can be produced.

The companies expect to start clinical trials, after animal testing, in the second half of this year and, if successful, the vaccine could be available by the second half of 2021.
