Salary: This is a full-time position, salary £31,000–£35,000 depending on experience

EARA is a communications and advocacy organisation, with offices in London, Brussels and Lisbon, whose mission is to uphold the interests of biomedical research and healthcare development and the continued use of animals for research. EARA provides a platform, across Europe and beyond, for the public and other external stakeholders to be informed and learn about the role of animals in scientific research and the benefits and limitations. Being an advocacy and communications membership organisation with more than 200 member organisations globally, EARA also encourages the creation and development of national networks of stakeholders and helps to improve the co-ordination between them.
Principal duties
Under the management of the EARA Communications and Media Manager, the principal duties will be to:
Social media:
Regular postings and monitoring traffic through the EARA social media platforms (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, BlueSky).
Co-ordination of 18 EARA Social Media Ambassador X accounts.
Prepare and manage occasional social media campaigns.
Producing EARA #TransparencyThursday and #LetsTalkSciComm video series and News Round-up videos and managing EARA YouTube channel.
Production of weekly social media metrics and analysis.
Other EARA communications:
Daily media monitoring and updating event calendars.
Writing and layout for the weekly EARA News Digest and Policy Briefing.
Write and lay out EARA website feature articles.
Regularly update EARA website content.
EARA member communications:
Assist with producing promotional materials for events and conferences, such as the first-ever EARA international conference, in Berlin, in November 2025.
Responding to requests from EARA members for communications advice.
Helping to maintain EARA member communication channels and database.
Person specifications
Required experience:
Demonstrable social media experience - digital content planning, scheduling, and posting across social media platforms, and familiarity with Mailchimp and design (Canva etc) and video-editing software.
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
A degree in a life sciences-related field or science communication.
Ability to understand and critique scientific publications and technical documents related to animal research and to translate this to a wider non-scientific audience.
An understanding of the scientific, ethical, and moral justification for animal research.
Experience of stakeholder engagement and project management, including report writing.
Additional desirable skills and requirements:
Written and/or verbal competency in another European language.
Experience of website building platforms such as Wix and use of YouTube.
Able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Willing to undertake travel within Europe for face-to-face events and conferences.
