The EU’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) has published a status report on alternatives to animal testing.
The annual report of the EU Reference Laboratory for alternatives to animal testing (EURL ECVAM) describes the JRC’s contributions to several of the actions set out in the Commission’s response to the European Parliament's resolution urging the transition to innovation without the use of animals.
The 2021 EURL ECVAM report highlights research, development, and validation activities, as well as initiatives to promote the use of non-animal methods and approaches in science and regulation.
The status report is published annually and summarises activities in which the JRC is involved, in support of Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes.
