A significant number of institutions in Ireland that use animals, or support the use of animals in science, have now joined EARA. This takes EARA membership to 189 institutions.

EARA executive director, Kirk Leech, said: “Adding these major Irish institutions, that conduct biomedical research using animals, to EARA membership is a big step forward on the path towards creating a transparency agreement in Ireland and a greater commitment to open communication on this important issue.”

The full list of institutions is: University College Cork; Dublin City University; University of Galway; Irish Laboratory Animal Science Association; Maynooth University; Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland; Trinity College Dublin.
