Animal research comms in Belgium & Netherlands

EARA member Infopoint Animal Testing (IPPO), based in Belgium, has launched an informative booklet (only available in Dutch) on laboratory animal research.

Liesbeth Aerts of IPPO, and one of the authors, has also been interviewed on Belgian radio (in Dutch) about the use of animals in biomedical research and the importance of an open and transparent communication on this topic.

Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, a webinar (in Dutch) from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Science (KNAW) took place last week to address why animal testing is still needed.

Scientists from the Erasmus University Medical Center and EARA member, the Netherlands Cancer Institute, explained their work on cancer, neuroscience, Covid-19 and rare diseases and how animal research has contributed in these fields.

Aleksandra Badura, of Erasmus MC shared an inventory (in Dutch and English) of innovative research methods in basic neurosciences prepared by KNAW that might have potential to boost ongoing efforts on the 3Rs.
