In the wake of the unparalleled guilty verdict against the Management of Green Hill in Italy, the European Animal Research Association (EARA) condemns this legal parody and the coordinated persecution that this Marshall dog breeding facility has been subjected to since 2010.
Kirk Leech, EARA’s Executive Director:
“These appalling sentences are without precedent in Europe. They are a legal travesty and a part of a politically motivated campaign to end animal research in Italy. The European life sciences sector and anyone else who supports research that finds cures for life-threatening diseases affecting mankind and animals should condemn this sham decision”
EARA seeks to inform the European public on the need and benefits of the humane use of experimental animals and about the enforcement of existing legislation ensuring animal welfare. The enclosed briefing notes explain the importance of dogs as experimental animal models, why and how this species is used in research and the role of animal breeders in drug development.
